Pacific Theater and Whale Heart proudly present WARM LIGHT. Warm Light was recorded over the course of 2010 and 2011 at Marcata Studios in New Paltz, NY and at Whale Manor here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Produced by the band’s own Daniel Bellury with additional production and mixing by Kevin McMahon, Warm Light stylistically pushes the band forward into synthier, new wave territory. Warm Light can be streamed for free and purchased right here from the whale store, or to buy off iTunes click here.

Amid a flurry of Whale Heart activity, Pacific Theater released this video and we didn’t want it to go too long without giving the gang their due here. The Weight and Festival are tracks one and two on “Warm Light”, the band’s second record due out September 6. More tunes/videos coming soon!

Big day here at Whale Central. For starters, we’ve got the release of Little Horn’s Twelve EP. You can read early reviews of it here and here. Twelve is the first recording for this particular line up of Little Horn. Up til now it’s pretty much been Keith and whoever he’s hanging out with at the time. The new band (DJ Higgum, Steve Brown and Rob “Jimbob” Bellury) fill out the songs and support Keith’s deep southern baritone in a way we haven’t heard before. Go here to watch the guys perform Bridges Break at the Georgia Guide Stones.

Next, we’ve got Pacific Theater dropping video for their medley, “The Weight / Festival”. The two songs make up tracks one and two on their upcoming release, Warm Light. Warm Light is due September 6th and the gang are playing a show tonight in Williamsburg.

Last but not least, Lille have begun recording their next record at our home away from home, Metaltern Studios. Guided by the steady hand of producer, studio wizard and barbecue scion, Daniel Whitt, the band have begun laying down tracks. There are 10 - 15 songs floating around. I imagine Grace is currently plucking them out of the air like so many colorful balloons. DB will be joining the crew in the studio over the weekend for some mustache grooming and high five competitions.

Wait, July’s over?

The Bellury shuffle in all its animated gif glory. Still nothing can replace the live experience.

Funny, cause it’s true. Thanks to James Gannon for this.

Pacific Sleepers is more like it. Back in New Paltz for the second weekend of mixing at Marcata with the venerable Kevin McMahon. Three songs done yesterday and three to go today, right on schedule. Album will be out… later. xo

Pacific Theater returned to Marcata Studio in New Paltz, NY to begin mixing on their second record. Wizard of audio and spinner of yarns, Kevin McMahon, welcomed them back to continue the work they began in the spring. Everything is sounding and feeling awesome, except for the temperature in the barn-cum-music studio. That feels like a cruel, frozen death. Thankfully there is heat in the control room and the fire of hot tunes. Look for the record later this year!!!

Things that look like faces in the recording studio, part 1.

Loving Soundcloud today. I signed up for it awhile back, but didn’t do much with it. Now I’m realizing it’s potential.

So, here’s another track. This is a Pacific Theater song that on the album plays very slow and steady with just two guitars and Dan’s voice. On the remix however, our friend Scott enlisted his band/project StabStabDie to turn this into a glitchy noise jam. Really love how it turn out.

What a year it’s been! Starting this business this year has been an incredible experience and we’re really excited about everything coming up in 2010. We’re working on a new release schedule for our artists and have also signed a new young artist from Atlanta, Grace Bellury. Her voice is unbelievable and we’re pumped to be the ones to share her talent with the world. We’ll also have new material from Duchess Leo and Pacific Theater in the summer/fall.

Brooklyn based band Pacific Theater have released their debut full-length record “Animals At Night” on vinyl. It’s available now from our website and also at Insound (somehow Insound ended up being cheaper, who knew?).

Pacific Theater are now in the midst of writing their next album, but in the meantime some really awesome artists have been donating their talents to remixing tracks from Animals At Night. Here are two MP3s to check out!

Thanks so much for a great 2009, here’s looking forward to a great new decade!
