Duchess Leo’s These For Those: Volume 2 will be available for free download this Tuesday, December 6th! It will feature five new songs including an in-studio version of Bloom from the band’s recently released record “Golden Gray”. The band had this to say about the project:

These For Those is a collection of songs recorded between the release of our first EP and Golden Gray. Presented here are the tunes we discovered our sound with, in many cases by discovering what our sound wasn’t. Each has a long history. Stylistically, these songs will likely not be repeated soon. Some of them predate the band. They were recorded using SM57s, iPhones and whatever else was available. They are time capsules. They are old home videos. They are first songs. They are free now.

We know, Thanksgiving was like a minute ago and December technically isn’t even here yet. Let’s be honest though, we’re all gonna blink and it will be 2012. Suddenly we’ll be discussing snow and new music in the year some have guessed to be mankind’s last. (We don’t subscribe to such doomy thinking) Before more time so swiftly gets away, we’re stopping to smell the mistletoe. Thank you all for Whale Heart’s best year yet. We have a lot to be thankful for, plenty to look forward to and you to share it with. We have already received all the gifts we could ask for. Merry Christmas, baby. We’re kissing you now.

Our very own Daniel Bellury (2nd from the right) has joined fellow Brooklynite synth-heads, Warm Ghost. They recently traveled to Asheville, NC to play a set at Moog Fest and returned to makeout with local haunt, Glasslands, shortly after. Their new record, Narrows was released by Partisan Records. These guys, they just look right together, don’t they?

Last weekend Mr. and Mrs Whale finally tied the knot. The blessed event took place at Fair Weather Farms in Social Circle, Georgia. Grace from Lille and Dan from Duchess Leo played the first dance; a slow, soft reading of Bowie’s classic, Let’s Dance. It sounded kind of like this. We wish the loving couple, Daniel Lee Bellury & Leslie Lorraine Meyer Bellury, a lifetime of joy and happiness.

Here we are. The end of labor day weekend. Remember summer? Us too, but now it’s time to get serious. There is new shit right around the corner. Pacific Theater drops Warm Light this Tuesday, the follow up to 2009’s Animals at Night. Lille is chipping away at their LP. Little Horn is playing shows in support of the recently released Twelve and Duchess Leo will be releasing two EPs this fall. And then before you know it, it’s gonna be Christmas. We urge you not to follow the example set by Wolverine shown in the above gif, but instead, wake up. Enjoy every moment. The season’s beauty is matched only by it’s brevity.

Pacific Theater play Brooklyn one last time for the summer! We’re big fans of Lyonnais (our second favorite Atlanta band named after a French city that starts with the letter L) and are excited to have Pacific Theater share a bill with them. Also Rusty Santo’s band The Present is headlining and we’re super stoked to see them.

Just returned home from Mr. and Mrs. Whale’s house. We had thai food, a few laughs and a listen to the pre-mixes of Lille’s record. I’d tell you it’s awesome, but you know it is. Word around the water cooler says It’s 85% in the can, songs are all there though. There’s a part for a children’s choir that still needs to be laid down. Hardest part of recording kids? Getting them to sit still. Best part? Paying them in cookies.
